Holiday seasons can be difficult, especially for those in recovery. Holidays can bring up past trauma, dysfunctional family dynamics and other triggers. There are often opportunities for get-togethers or parties where drinking or drug use is present. For many, maintaining recovery during the holidays is challenging. Here’s how the app can help:
- Community – You aren’t alone. At any moment users can open the app, engage with peers and ask for help.
We recently saw an app user post that she was struggling. She let other users know that every hour on the hour she was opening her app for support and encouragement and asked that users comment on her post or create posts of their own to remind her she wasn’t alone. That day, the stream was filled with posts by other users who saw her need and rose to the occasion.
- Resources – There are a number of resources available inside the app, including articles, podcasts, videos, books and more to help users remain focused on their recovery.
We often hear from app users that they rely on guided meditations housed in the app to get them through difficult situations.
- Support – There are many ways to reach out to facility staff inside the app. Use the “get help now” button to call the facility directly or reach out to an app admin via the private messaging feature.
App users regularly engage with admins in the app through private messaging.
